environment, where the Library is positioned compared to other information

The Effects of Cross-Pollination : How Non-Library Mass Market Services Are Changing Library User Expectations and Behaviours | In this talk we will consider how the emergence of free online services are affecting, and will continue to influence library user expectations and behaviours, posing new challenges for service delivery and information needs fulfillment in traditional libraries. Specific examples will be drawn from mass digitization, user generated content, end user composable services, and social tagging / recommender systems. In particular, the rise of these services reinforce, rather than challenge the need for long cultivated library and information science skills, but motivate revitalised service delivery models. |
