ALLA 2008: The Art of Information

Perth Transport Information

We recommend you use WhereIs to work out distances and duration of travel.

Travelling by taxi

Unfortunately, taxis can sometimes be difficult to find in Perth so please allow plenty of time between calling a taxi and it arriving to collect you. If you are close to a taxi rank you shouldn't have too many difficulties in getting one promptly. It will take up to 10 minutes to get to the Subiaco Arts Centre by taxi from the Perth CBD, but we recommend that you allow 15-20 minutes in peak-hour traffic.

Suggested taxi companies to ring for service

Swan Taxis - 13 13 30
Black and White Taxis - (08) 9333 3333
Independent Taxis - (08) 9375 7777
Disabled Taxi Service - (08) 9333 3377.

Taxis from the Domestic Airport to the Perth CBD will take approximately 30 minutes of travel time and cost around $25.00.

Travelling by train

To get to the Subiaco Arts Centre by train you will need to catch a train on the Fremantle line from the Perth train station in Wellington Street (if staying in the CBD). You only need a 1-zone ticket which will cost $2.20 for a "standard" adult fare.

We recommend that you alight at the DAGLISH station (4th station out from Perth, a 7 minute journey), cross to the other side of Railway Road and walk 10 minutes directly up Hamsersley Road. Note however, that not every train stops at Daglish, so check the timetable first.

Alternatively, you can alight at the SUBIACO station (3rd station out from Perth, a 6 minute journey), cross Railway Road/Roberts Road and walk 15-20 minutes past the shops up Rokeby Road, and then turn right onto Hamersley Road. The venue is a few hundred metres up on the right.

Travelling by bus

The Perth CBD is a free transit zone, so you can jump on any bus and go up the street without purchasing a ticket. Travelling out of the CBD will require you to purchase a 1-zone or more ticket depending on your destination. In addition to CAT buses which specifically service the CBD during business hours, there are regular buses that will allow free travel in this zone. See the free transit zone and CAT bus route map for more information:

Catch bus number 25 or 25B from the CBD or West Perth to the venue. The journey should take around 6 minutes.

Bus number 25 (Perth to Claremont) -

Catch bus number 26 back to the Perth CBD from the venue. Take a short walk up Hamersley Road, turn left onto Rokeby Road and walk down the street to the bus stop to catch it.

Car parking at the venue

Car parking in the Subiaco Arts Centre car park on Hamersley Road is at a premium after 8.00 am as the 124 bays are quickly taken by local workers. If you intend to drive to the conference venue, ensure you get there early. The cost is $0.60 per hour to a maximum of $3.00.

Street parking is only for a maximum of 2 hours, and any cars parked on the street longer than this will be fined by the local council.
