ALLA PD Webinar - The open access landscape and its effects on research and publishing
Ginny Barbour from the Australasian Open Access Strategy Group (AOASG) will be presenting a webinar for ALLA on the open access landscape and its effects on research and publishing.
Proponents of Open Access, that is free public access to scholarly works and the ability to use and reuse work under appropriate licenses (eg Creative Commons licenses), suggest it benefits academia, education, industry and the wider community in Australasia and beyond.
Professor Ginny Barbour, Director of the AOASG and Advisor to the Office of Research Ethics & Integrity and the Library at QUT, will provide an overview of the open publishing landscape in Australia and globally. She will discuss how some disciplines are leading the way in this space and potential implications for legal research & publishing. Following the presentation, there will be a chance to ask questions.
Our presenter has a long history of working in open access publishing, and was a founding editor of PLOS Medicine, Chair of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for 5 years to 2017. Professor Barbour is also an advisor to a number of international publishing and ethics initiatives.
The Australasian Open Access Strategy Group (AOASG) works to make Australasian research Open and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and to promote open scholarship and innovation.
